Beer of the Weekend #745: Global Warmer

Tonight’s beer is fitting given the odd winter we’re having (thus far; it has only been winter for a week): Global Warmer, brewed by the Sixpoint Brewery of Brooklyn, New York.

Global Warmer pours a clear, medium amber into a pint glass. A finger of eggshell-colored, dense, shiny head settles to a skim and ring around the edge. The aroma is well-balanced with scents of citrus, tropical fruit, arbor, and caramel. Pleasing grapefruit, pineapple, pine, and caramel are present. The flavor mostly mirrors the aroma, but it is much more aggressive and bitter. It is a little boozy, too. There are flavors of caramel, grapefruit, pineapple, zest, pine, and hints of fruit. It’s really tasty and goes down easy. The booze is noticeable in the tail. A small amount of bitterness lingers.
