Good Tunes: George Michael, 'Too Funky'
In honor of the late George Michael, I am posting my favorite song of his, “Too Funky.” It’s a good tune, and the video brings back memories; it was on MTV and VH1 a lot when I started watching them in 1992. Needless to say, it was quite a treat for a boy on the verge of puberty.
A couple noteworthy things about George Michael:
• My mom told me that she was devastated when he came out of the closet. She obviously thought he was quite an attractive dude.
• Luke Vernon retweeted this and it was something I had never thought about:

Thinking about it now, the term “openly gay” does seem homophobic, or at least judgmental and thinly veiled disapproval.
