Beer of the Weekend #1,071: Whole Latte Love

Another rock-themed beer, another beer of the weekend. This weekend it is Whole Latte Love, brewed by the House Divided Brewery of North Liberty, Iowa.

Whole Latte Love

Serving type: 16-ounce can. No freshness date.

Appearance: Poured into a nonic pint glass. The color is a weird, lightly hazy golden amber. Almost no head develops, though there is a “wafer thin” skim and collar.

Smell: It smells like a latte, though with light roast. The lactose is there, as is the roast and chocolate. It does not smell like it looks. It is light, though, with light malt reminiscent of lightly toasted malt.

Taste: It mostly mirrors the aroma. It is like a latte but also a lager. Roasted malt with chocolate and light malt toast.

Fun facts about Whole Latte Love:

• Style: Blonde stout.

• Price: $10.99 for a four-pack of 16-ounce cans at John’s Grocery in Iowa City.

• Alcohol content: 5.7 percent ABV.

The Quiet Man’s grade: C+.
