Beer of the Weekend #747: Satin Solitude Imperial Stout
The beer tonight is Satin Solitude Imperial Stout, brewed by the Central Waters Brewing Company of Amherst, Wisconsin.
The color is a non-opaque black. The head dissipates quickly, giving me no time to include it in the picture or even note its color. A couple swirls, however, produces a thick, tan ring around the edge. It smells like dirt cake! Or maybe a very chocolaty Dairy Queen Blizzard. Scents of chocolate mousse and Oreo cookie crumbles dominate. Roasted malt is present, but it is not prominent. The flavor, however, is much more roasty with a prominent roasted malt presence and accompanying bitterness. This time the chocolate is a minor player. Alcohol is noticeable and there are also flavors of black licorice, a hint of smoked malt (maybe), and a woody, barrel-aged flavor.
