Beer of the Weekend #732: Daytrotter Pale Ale

The beer today is Daytrotter Pale Ale, brewed by the Exile Brewing Company of Des Moines, Iowa.

The beer pours a hazy, light gold into a pint glass. A finger of off-white head leaves a lacing, a bubbly center, and a ring around the edge. A thin layer of yeast remains at the bottom of the bottle so I wish I had given the bottle a quick swirl. The aroma is fruity and citrusy. With a soft soda-like aroma, it smells like radler or shandy. Overall, though, the aroma is faint, but it does have a zesty, floral edge. The flavor is correspondingly weak. This bottle may be past its prime or very close to it. However, it has a light citrus flavor and a touch of the soft, radler/shandy-like character is present. It is lemony. A zesty bitterness lingers on the taste buds after each sip. It is definitely a summer beer that is showing its age in December.
