Hot off the Press: It is fucking hot edition

Grr. I'm falling behind again. Yesterday when I talked to Zee German via Skype he asked, "Did you hear about Shaq?"

Huh? What about Shaq?

The Big Aristotle will apparently be playing in Boston next season. It was news to me.

Anyway, here are the two pieces I happen to have at the ready. I promise to do better next week.

Front and center on the NYT website, the University of Iowa is overbooked: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/04/education/04admissions.html?_r=1&hp. The NYT has the balls to confess to errors, especially those us Iowans find egregious:

Correction: August 3, 2010

An earlier version of this article misstated the athletic nickname for the University of Iowa. They are the Hawkeyes — not the Cyclones, which is the nickname of Iowa State University.

Any vigilant journalist with an internet connection should not make such mistakes. The world is, literally, at your fingertips.

Holy shit, Batman! A Republican with an austerity plan...which isn't even popular with the rest of the party: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/03/us/politics/03ryan.html?ref=us. Good luck with that shit. But this does relate to a realistic CRG Letter to the Editor I read: http://gazetteonline.com/opinion/letters-to-the-editor/2010/08/03/cuts-need-to-come-from-benefits-defense.
