The Novel Diary: Week 71
Word count: 1,103 (Chapter 4 (2.0), 50,114 (total).
Tonight I started Chapter 4 (2.0), which I intend to be a soft, descriptive chapter. It is an extended version of the old Chapter 3 and much of tonight’s initial word count is inflated because I cut and pasted a lot of material from the previous version. It was pretty good, I have to say, and I wanted to keep it. However, I obviously cannot rely on old material every night. Tomorrow night will be a different story — literally: I will be writing fresh stuff.
So I am going backward — Chapter 6 (2.0) to Chapter 4 (2.0). Whatever. The reworking of earlier chapters will need to happen at some point and I felt much more comfortable writing a new Chapter 4.
