The Novel Diary: Week 40

Word count: 40,082.

There is not much to report this week. I have been plugging away at my novel-problem-solving or outlining or whatever the hell it should be called. I have been reasoning through problems as I think of them — sometimes with beer, other times not — but now that I am out of readily available story dilemmas I will be moving on to a chapter outline. Needless to say, more story dilemmas will arise as I work my way through that.

This outline will differ from the two other (massive) outlines I have in the sense that I will be outlining the chapters only. For example: “Chapter 8: [insert basic idea; I will know what to do from there].” Perhaps I will add a little description as a refresher. This time I am dead set against an all-encompassing, finely detailed “skeleton” of an outline. No more of that.
