Beer of the Weekend #1,113: Paradise Light

The fam took a trip to Dauphin Island, Alabama, for spring break. We soaked up some rays, saw some rays (at the aquarium), and picked up some southern beer (at least I did), including Paradise Light, brewed by the Urban South Brewery of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Paradise Light

Serving type: 12-ounce can. “PKG ON 10/03/24 11:32” is printed on the bottom.

Appearance: Poured into the generic 16-ounce glass available at our Airbnb (it looked like something from Pier 1, but was surprisingly useful). The color is light gold. Two fingers of white, bubbly head leaves a skim and collar.

Smell: It smells like a light beer. Light malt, mostly rice, light zest. Basic times three.

Taste: Mostly mirrors the aroma. It is light and malty with a touch of zest, Light grass/hay.

Fun facts about Paradise Light:

• Style: American light lager.

• Price: $9.89 for a sixer of 12-ounce cans at Ship and Shore in Dauphin Island.

• Alcohol content: 4 percent ABV.

• IBU: 10.

• Paradise Light is available only in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama.

• Pairings listed on the beer’s webpage are “[p]ool days, tailgates, and that post-workout feeling.”

The Quiet Man’s grade: C-.
