The beer of the weekend is Tulpa, brewed by Tua Brewing of Des Moines, Iowa.

Appearance: Pours a crystal-clear lighter gold into a pilsner glass. A dense, buttery, cream-colored head settles slowly. It is a beautiful beer.

Smell: Tropical and citrusy. Very enticing. Grapefruit, orange, a hint of pineapple, arboreal hops, peach, strawberry, and light lemon. It is also dank with a touch of weed.

Taste: Hoppy, bright, easy, tropical. Good and interesting. Citrus, tropical fruit, and arbor. Grapefruit, orange, pine, lemon, stone fruit, and a touch of strawberry. It is reminiscent of a Naked juice flavor. Hops really work the taste buds. It is arboreal but not like a Christmas tree.

• Price: $15.99 for a 4-pack of 16-ounce cans at John’s Grocery in Iowa City.

• Alcohol content: 5.9 percent ABV is listed on the can, but the Lua website pegs the ABV at 6 percent.
