Beer of the Weekend #1,117: Bohemian Premium

The beer of the weekend two weekends ago was Bohemian Premium, brewed by the Lion Bridge Brewing Company of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Bohemian Premium

Serving type: 12-ounce can. “CANNED: 1/13/25” is printed on the bottom.

Appearance: Poured into a pilsner glass. The color is clear, light gold. Dense, fluffy, and buttery head settles slowly, leaving spots on the glass.

Smell: Malty, light, and muted. Cereal, corn, rice, light zest.

Taste: It mostly mirrors the aroma. Malty, light, and zesty. A nice earthy hop bite makes it interesting. It’s grassy and also tastes like a piece of toasted and buttered rye bread.

Fun facts about Bohemian Premium:

• Style: Lion Bridge calls it lager.

• Price: $11.99 for a sixer of 12-ounce cans at John’s Grocery in Iowa City.

• Alcohol content: 4.8 percent ABV.

• Here is the brewery’s description:

Brewed with Czech Saaz Hops as well as flaked rice and a blend of American and Bohemian Pilsner malts, Bohemian Premium embraces Old World hop character right alongside the New World utilization of rice to lighten the body and increase drinkability.  Bohemian Premium is the story of us: using our past to inspire our future…all while making it our very own.

The Quiet Man’s grade: B+.
