Walter Cronkite — 1916-2009

American journalism lost an expert and icon today. Walter Cronkite, the man who the NYT eloquently says “pioneered and then mastered the role of television news anchorman with such plain-spoken grace that he was called the most trusted man in America,” died in his New York home at the age of 92.
I can’t think of the most pivotal moments of my parents generation without thinking of Walter Cronkite and his slicked back hair and thick, wide-rimmed glasses. He was an American institution and thorough journalist.
