Beer of the Weekend #1,163: Mirror Universe
I changed up my tasting routine last week and enjoyed the beer of the weekend—Mirror Universe, brewed by Fair State Brewing of St. Paul, Minnesota—while watching Aussie rules in the basement.

Who knew that plyo boxes are also good for staging beer pics? ;-)
Serving type: 16-ounce can. “PKG 04/17/26” was printed on the bottom.
Appearance: Poured into my Number One Pint Glass. The color was hazy pale amber. A fluffy, dense, off-white head settled slowly.
Smell: Creamy, citrusy, tropical. Pineapple, orange, grapefruit, peach, caramel. It was enticing and sticky sweet.
Taste: It was a pleasant mélange with a complementary bite. Perfectly balanced. There are flavors of pineapple, grapefruit, and orange. It was smoothie-like and tasty. The alcohol became more noticeable after the pint warmed, but it was not overpowering or distracting.
Fun facts about Mirror Universe:
• Style: Hazy IPA.
• Price: $13.99 for a 4-pack of 16-ounce cans at John’s Grocery in Iowa City.
• Alcohol content: 7 percent ABV.
• IBU: 33.
• Here is the description via the brewery website:
• Also on the website is this tidbit: “This beer’s namesake, the ‘Mirror Universe’ is a parallel universe in which the plots of several Star Trek television episodes take place.” I might save the last can for Bobblehead.
The Quiet Man’s grade: A.
