Beer of the Weekend #1,131: Neighborhood Beer
The beer last weekend (I am always behind these days) was a tasty and easy drinking beer with a cause: Neighborhood Beer, brewed by the Big Grove Brewery of Iowa City, Iowa.

Serving type: 12-ounce can. “PACKAGED 05/01/25” was printed on the bottom.
Appearance: Poured into a pilsner glass. The color was pale gold with a slight haze. An off-white, bubbly, buttery head left an even skim and bubbly collar.
Smell: Light and macro-like. Adjunct malt (probably corn), pale malt, Cheerios, and a touch of spice.
Taste: Easy drinking and on the lighter side. Macro-like with pale malt and adjuncts, a nice pop of hops, and a touch of zest. It was perfect for sipping while enjoying a nice night on the porch.
Fun facts about Neighborhood Beer:
• Style: American lager.
• Price: $17.99 for a 12-pack of 12-ounce cans at John’s Grocery in Iowa City.
• Alcohol content: 4.5 percent ABV. It’s a pounder!
• Here is the description via the beer’s webpage:

• It blows my mind that humble little Big Grove, that started with a brewpub in Solon, now has taprooms in IC, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, and Omaha. The quality does not seem to have suffered.
The Quiet Man’s grade: B-.

Big Grove Brewery believes in celebrating and giving back to the neighborhoods we call home. That’s why we’re excited to introduce The Neighborhood Beer Micro-Grant Program, fueled by every case of Neighborhood Beer sold. With proceeds from each case reinvested into our Big Grove for Good Foundation, we’re turning your beer into community-building power—supporting causes that matter most to you.
