Good Tunes: Esthero, 'That Girl'

Happy 2017, everyone! I hope it turns out to be a great year for everyone — except for the Denver Broncos. (I hate the Broncos.) And what better way to start the year on The Quiet Man than with a little jazz fusion from the late nineties courtesy of “That Girl” by Esthero.

Speaking of the nineties, I recently watched I Know What You Did Last Summer for the first time. Why had I never seen it before? Mostly because I did not start watching scary movies until recently.

Though I had seen scary movies here and there, I mostly avoided them. However, over the past few years I've started manning up and watching more.

A couple years ago, I decided to bite the bullet and watch Scream to see what all the fuss was about. Instead of being scared out of my mind, as I remember people being when it was released, I thought, “That was it?” Sure, there were scary moments, but I was mostly disappointed — perhaps because I had essentially seen the movie before via Scary Movie. (Plus, BO made me watch some truly appalling and disgusting movies when I was in college, so I suppose my tolerance was set very high.) A few years ago, I started watching the Friday the 13th franchise, easing into it with the edited movies on AMC before seeing them unedited.

Much like Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer is one of those movies I felt I should see at some point. So, having caught the end of the movie a few weeks ago, and (ironically) having already seen the awful sequel, I ventured a viewing of the whole movie.

What did I think? Meh. It’s okay. It’s not super gory, though, which is awesome.

Anyway, the sequel was on a few days later and I watched a scene (literally one scene) before flipping to something else. Featured in that one scene, though, is “That Girl” by Esthero.
