Beer of the Weekend #770: Skillet Creek Pilsner

Last night, after attending Iowa’s Graduate College graduation ceremony, I needed a beer. Five, actually. Congrats to The Loud Sister for getting a Master’s from Iowa, but — wow! — that was boring.

The beer of the weekend is payment for some dog sitting I did last weekend: Skillet Creek Pilsner, brewed by the Stevens Point Brewery of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, under the Baraboo Brewing Company brand.

The color is light gold. Two fingers and change of fluffy, shiny, white, bubble-spotted head leaves a bubbly skim and a lot of lacing stuck to the glass. The aroma is enticing with scents of pale malt, floral hops, and a nice grassiness. The flavor mostly mirrors the aroma, but there is an added bonus of hop spice and bitterness that linger on the taste buds after each sip. This is pilsner!

Fun facts about Skillet Creek Pilsner:

• Style: Pilsner.

• Price: Walking Nina and picking up her shit.

• Alcohol content: Unlisted.

• Baraboo brand beers are, I believe, brewed exclusively for sale at Hy-Vee stores. This is, I believe, the first time I have ever had a Baraboo beer.
