Beer of the Weekend #673: Downtown Throwdown

The beer of the weekend is Downtown Throwdown, brewed by the Confluence Brewing Company of Des Moines, Iowa.

Downtown Throwdown pours a slightly hazy, deep gold that is leaning amber. A finger of eggshell-colored, buttery, tight head is spotted with bubbles and dissipates very slowly and unevenly, leaving a thin cap. There are scents of tangerine, mango, orange, a touch of tropical fruit, and pear. The mouthfeel is full-bodied. The flavor is tamer than the aroma, but still tasty with tangerine, mango, orange, hop bitterness that lingers on the taste buds after each sip, pear, lemon, and a touch of caramel.

Fun facts about Downtown Throwdown:

-Price: $9.29/gentleman’s 40 at the New Pioneer Food Co-op in Iowa City. It’s kind of an odd price.
