Beer of the Weekend #637: Cane and Ebel Red Rye Ale
The beer tonight is Cane and Ebel Red Rye Ale, brewed by the Two Brothers Brewing Company of Warrenville, Illinois.
Serving type: 12-ounce bottle. The “BEST BY” date printed on the back label is “04/11/15.”
Appearance: Pours reddish amber into a pint glass. Two fingers of dense, buttery, light tan head settles unevenly and leaves spots of foam and a ring around the edge.
Smell: The first whiff is hoppy and malty at the same time. (The best of both worlds, I suppose.) Scents of grapefruit, orange, earthy hops, caramel, brown sugar, a little toasted malt, rye, and some fruit.
Taste: Boldly hopped with quite a bit of rye. Earthy hops, rye, a little citrus, caramel, toasted malt, a little dark fruit, and a touch of alcohol.
Drinkability: This is a tasty little brew. The hops and rye complement each other beautifully and make for a pleasing combination.
Fun facts about Cane and Ebel Red Rye Ale:
