Beer of the Weekend #426: Mikkeller Mt. Hood
My goal is to finish off my sixer of the single-hop series tomorrow night. Which means the beer tonight is Mikkeller Mt. Hood, brewed by Mikkeller of Copenhagen, Denmark.
Serving type: 330 ml bottle. No freshness date.
Appearance: Poured into a pint glass. The color is cloudy amber/orange. A finger of unspectacular, off-white foam left a spotted lacing and ring around the edge. A couple specks of sedimentation are noticeable.
Smell: Light citrus (lemon and orange) and earthy/grassy hops blend with scents of sweet and tangy fruit, pale malts, honey, caramel, and toffee.
Taste: It mirrors the aroma for the most part, but the proportions are different. There is less fruit and citrus and more earthy bitterness. The aftertaste is very dry and tinged with a little booze. It has the exact same gritty, unpolished bitterness (at least it seems unpolished to me).
Drinkability: Meh. It has nice flavor but is just a (pricy) educational tool.
