Beer of the Weekend #1,047: Balance of Time
The beer of the weekend is Balance of Time, brewed by Wild Mind Ales of Stillwater, Minnesota.
Serving type: 16-ounce can. “1713” is written on the bottom shoulder, but I have no clue what it means.
Appearance: Poured into a stange. The color is clear gold that leans pale. Three fingers of white, buttery, billowy head settles slowly and leaves spots of foam on the glass.
Smell: Light and malty with a dose of earthy spice. There is a little lemon zest. It is hard to pin down.
Taste: Very light and malty with a touch of earthy bitterness. There is not much to it. I think this can is too old.
Fun facts about Balance of Time:
• Style: Kölsch.
• Price: $14.99 for a four-pack of 16-ounce cans at John’s Grocery in Iowa City.
• Alcohol content: 4.7 percent ABV.
The Quiet Man’s grade: C-.
