Beer of the Weekend #1,044: Summer of _____
The beer tonight is Summer of _____, brewed by the Millstream Brewing Company of Amana, Iowa.
Serving type: 12-ounce can. “06 08 23” is printed on the bottom.
Appearance: Poured into my Schlitz pilsner glass. The color is medium gold. Two fingers (!) of billowy, off-white, buttery head leaves a thick skim.
Smell: The lime is very noticeable. It smells much like a beer with lime squeezed in it. It brings to mind a margarita. Oddly, I get lemonade, too; it smells kind of like a radler or shandy.
Taste: Beer and lime. Lime dominates. Malty notes are noticeable after the taste buds adjust.
Fun facts about Summer of _____:
• Style: Pilsner.
• Price: Unsure. It was part of my summer seasonal 12-pack.
• Alcohol content: 5 percent ABV.
• IBU: 40.
• Based on the description, the blank in the name is likely where you write your name:
Drinking this subtle lime pilsner will be just like tasting the fruit and letting it drip down your chin as you’re reading a book from beginning to end. From frisbee golf to staying out all night, this brew pairs well with all of your summer ambitions to help make this the Summer Of You!
• I still want to find a sixer of Millstream’s Rock 108 Light Rock.
• Speaking of Millstream, Oktoberfest is right around the corner and I have no clue where my 1982 Oktoberfest Maß is. I need to find it.
The Quiet Man’s grade: C.
