Beer of the Weekend #1,046: Cara Cara Orange Tangerine Bohemian
The second beer of the weekend is Cara Cara Orange Tangerine Bohemian, brewed by the Exile Brewing Company of Des Moines, Iowa.
Serving type: 12-ounce can. “Born: 05162_ 12:17:22” is printed on the bottom, but the last digit in the year is indecipherable. It kind of looks like a 0, which would mean this beer is three years old. I highly doubt that, though.
Appearance: Poured into a tulip. The color is hazy golden amber. A little more than a finger of fizzy off-white head dissipates fairly quickly and leaves a thin, broken skim and a thin collar.
Smell: The first few whiffs have more tangerine than cara cara orange. The citrus is sharp and zesty. Orange is there, but I think it is more reminiscent of fresh-squeezed orange juice.
Taste: It is nice and sour with citrus notes. I get more sourness than orange, though. Tangerine and orange are present, but I do not get as much cara cara orange.
Fun facts about CCOTB:
• Style: Sour.
• Price: Unsure.
• Alcohol content: 4.8 percent ABV.
The Quiet Man’s grade: C+.
