Good Tunes: Holy Ghost! 'Escape from Los Angeles'

Here’s a bouncy and fascinating tune I heard on IPR’s Studio One Tracks: “Escape from Los Angeles” by Holy Ghost! It appeals to my soft spot for synth-pop and the two Escape movies with Kurt Russell, especially Escape from New York.

Despite the title, the song samples Escape from New York instead of Escape from L.A., which is fine with me. Part of the appeal of New York is the synth-heavy soundtrack, which was composed and performed by director John Carpenter. I especially love “The Duke Arrives/Barricade” and “Main Title.”
