Beer of the Weekend #992: Friday Night Dice

The beer of the weekend last weekend is the second brew I picked up during our short getaway in Minneapolis: Friday Night Dice, brewed by the Pipeworks Brewing Company of Chicago, Illinois.

Friday Night Dice

Serving type: 16-ounce can. “PKG09/07/22” is printed on the bottom shoulder.

Appearance: Poured into a nonick. The color is light golden amber. A finger and a half of off-white, dense, buttery head leaves an even skim, a thick collar, and trails of foam along the glass.

Smell: Enticing and good! It is a mix of citrus and pine and everything nice. Sticky grapefruit, tangerine, and orange; arboreal hops; caramel; honey.

Taste: More hoppy than citrusy. Earthy hops, a touch of pine, grapefruit, tangerine, orange, caramel, and honey. It is smooth and the flavors are a pleasant melange. There is a touch of alcohol, which gives it a hot toddy character.

Fun facts about Friday Night Dice:

• Style: A straight up American IPA.

• Price: $13 for a four-pack of 16-ounce cans at the Cork Dork Wine Co. on Cedar Avenue in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

• Alcohol content: 7.3 percent ABV.

• I really dig the can artwork.

The Quiet Man’s grade: A.
