Good Tunes: Duran Duran, 'Save a Prayer'

Sunsets in July remind me of this pensive, romantic gem I discovered during my awkward eighties phase: “Save a Prayer” by Duran Duran.

Featured on the band’s iconic album Rio, “Save a Prayer” is perfect sunset music. It makes me think of watching the deep orange sun move toward the horizon while at Wetherby Park on hot, humid summer days when I was a kid. I’ve been meaning to post it as a Good Tune forever, so I thought I would finally do it with one day left in July.

Rio is an album I have always wanted to own. It features other hits like “Rio” and “Hungry Like the Wolf.” (The rest of the songs seem hit and miss, though.) I can’t believe I did not splurge on the album when I was younger.
