Good Tunes: Ministry, 'Everyday (Is Halloween)'

Happy Halloween!

Since Halloween conveniently falls on my usual music-posting day, I’ve decided to call upon a gem I first heard during my awkward eighties phase: Ministry’s “Everyday (Is Halloween).”

I recorded a lot of eighties tunes off the radio, and still have a box full of Sony, TDK, and Maxell cassettes full of songs played by Kid Kelly on Backtrax USA. When I was in high school, I discovered The Reflex, an eighties show on KRUI—which is where I first heard (and recorded) “Everyday (Is Halloween).” (The name comes from the Duran Duran song of the same name, which was sampled for the show’s idents.) Since it was on a college radio station, The Reflex played a much greater variety of songs. I doubt Ministry would have ever been played on Backtrax.
