Good Tunes: Candlebox, 'Far Behind'

While driving to the Des Moines area last Monday, my car radio tuned to Rock 108 until its signal faded to nothing, I heard what I thought was the beginning of Candlebox’s “Far Behind.” I turned the volume higher to check, but it turned out to be a different song.

I was seriously bummed—bummed enough to sing the first couple lines of the song to myself. It’s a great song, one Rock 108 has played on a steady basis forever, making it a major part of the soundtrack of my life since I’ve listened to the station since around 1997. While speeding down the interstate, I jokingly thought to myself that “Far Behind” has to be the greatest song of all time.

Seriously, though, adding some Candlebox to my personal music library is probably long overdue. I love the band’s grungy, hard, alt metal sound.
