The Gems of Sharpless: October 29, 2014
There was a lot of junk at Sharpless today, but also a handful of gems (as always).
-Wow. Super ugly, and not even comfortable. I demand a refund!
-Somebody had an Elvis problem.
-I had the urge to buy this for the sheer hilarity. I would put it in my living room and tell bemused guests, “Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!”
-A stack of plastic HiBoy mugs. HiBoy is a chain of drive-ins based in Independence, Missouri. According to its website, it was recognized for having the best onion rings in Kansas City.
-Whoa. I’m kind of speechless. Kind of. I love how the omnipotent, posing John Wayne is looking over the stereotypical western scene.
-A pretty freaky looking Freddy Krueger doll. Of course, when isn’t Freddy Krueger freaky looking?
-Promotional literature for the 1963 Ford Falcon. It was apparently perfect for car camping.
-A massive tin of moleskin adhesive. Why in the world would anyone need so much moleskin adhesive?
-A souvenir ashtray from a hotel in Guam. I bet it was stolen.
-I have no clue what these were for, but, given the usage of the very old German flag, I am sure they were pretty old.
-A very interesting combination of two different photos. The ship looks like it is barreling down on the city.
-A box full of John Deere safety videos.
-Discarded NordicTrek machines.
-Ducks!
-Assorted tins for lard. The big one held fifty pounds.
