Beer of the Weekend #441: All Day IPA
Today’s twenty-win season celebrating brown bottle lunch (very late lunch) is All Day IPA, brewed by the Founders Brewing Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Serving type: 12-ounce bottle. The “BOTTLED” date printed on the neck is “02/16/13.”
Appearance: Straight pour into a pint glass. The color is pale copper. Two fingers of eggshell-colored head left an even skim.
Smell: Lots of citrus and tropical fruit. Grapefruit, lemon zest, pine, cara cara orange, mango, and floral hops. There is also a hint of dirty socks. I do not know what it is; perhaps just the way the smells intermingle.
Taste: Pretty thin mouthfeel, and the citrus and fruit do not stand out as much as they do in the aroma until the beer warms considerably. When that happens, the flavor mostly mirrors the smell with grapefruit, lemon zest, pine, and exotic fruits. A floral hop bitterness commands each sip.
Drinkability: This is decent and drinkable — especially, I would assume, while outdoors. It is not overpowering, but it does offer good flavor without being overly heavy or boozy.

A number of BA reviewers classify beers as “sessionable” in their reviews. I do not do that.
