Deee Lite, "Groove is in the Heart"

It has been a while since I posted a gratuitous music video, so I thought I would dig deep into my back pocket and bring this back into the public conscious.

For whatever reason, scenes of Lady Miss Kier grooving on the rotating platform in a leotard stuck with me, but I could never remember the song off the top of my head. I had to hear it to make the connection. But how often do you hear “Groove is in the Heart”? Last year, on the way to Tiffin to watch a Clear Creek-Amana football game with my dad, I heard it on KOKZ — probably for the first time in 15 years — and looked up the lyrics online later. Needless to say, it is a welcome blast from the past.

“Groove is in the Heart” is probably a good simulacrum of my memories of the early-nineties. Lots of bright colors, spandex, and odd originality.
