Silversun Pickups, "Substitution"

“Substitution” by the Silversun Pickups is now my new obsession. (Follow the link because embedding from YouTube has been “disabled by request.” Cocksuckers.)

Yes, I know: I just posted a song yesterday, but I wanted to share this. It was a related link to “MoneyGrabber” and I clicked it out of curiosity.

The song, the wardrobes, the video, and the cinematography all remind me of LA, hardcore — the Silver Lake and other predominantly hipster districts, especially. Having never heard of the Silversun Pickups, I took a peek at their Wikipedia page. Sure enough, they’re from the Silver Lake music scene. The name of the band was apparently taken from a strip mall at the intersection of Sunset and Silver Lake Boulevards.

The video also reminds me of another: “Kelly Watch the Stars,” by Air.

My impression of their other songs is mixed so far, but “Substitution” definitely tickles me. Plus, I find their bassist easy on the eyes. Sexy.
