Illinois 59, Iowa 42

I’m pretty sure not many Hawkeye fans watched this game. I’m wondering who was unfortunate enough to be covering it for the papers. (Apparently nobody, because there are no pics from local photogs).

We were my aunt and uncle’s place to watch the Hawkeye football team in the Orange Bowl, and only flipped to the basketball game during commercials to see what the score was. Before turning the channel, my uncle asked everyone to guess how many points we’d scored.

Once again, the score doesn’t do the game justice; the Hawks got throttled. I think Bruce Weber called off the dogs in the second half. But, at least nobody felt the pain with the euphoria of the Orange Bowl.
