Beer of the Weekend #1,129: 3 Sheeps Pils

The beer of the weekend last weekend was a beer I bought for The Grip and I to enjoy at the lake house: 3 Sheeps Pils, brewed by 3 Sheeps Brewing of Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

3 Sheeps Pils

Serving type: 12-ounce can. “CANNED ON 5/22/25” was printed on the bottom.

Appearance: Poured into a pilsner glass. The color was clean light gold. A bubbly, thin, buttery, white head settled quickly and left a broken skim and thin collar.

Smell: Malty and basic. Lightly toasted malt, a touch of grass, and lemon zest.

Taste: Much like the aroma: malty and basic. Lightly toasted malt, light hops, honey, a touch of zest, and light grass. It was a lighter pilsner and had a slight bite.

Fun facts about 3SP:

• Style: Pilsner.

• Price: $10.39 for a sixer at Hansen’s IGA in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.

• Alcohol content: 5.2 percent ABV.

• IBU: 25.

• Here is the description on the brewery website:

Anyone who opens a brewery in Wisconsin does so on the shoulders of giants. While the coasts may be known for their IPAs, the midwest has a long legacy of lagers, and 3 Sheeps Pils is our tip of the hat to that legacy. It’s a beer our ancestors would be proud to call Midwestern.

• The flavor profile listed on the beer’s webpage is “crushable.”

• Also on the beer’s webpage is a pic of someone holding a 3SP can with the Brewers’ stadium (whatever it’s called these days) in the background. The Brew Crew have been on a tear for the last couple months—much to us Cubs fans’ chagrin.

• I was stressed about what to get The Grip and bought 3SP instead of New Glarus’s Pilsner, which I came to regret because I bought it later.

The Quiet Man’s grade: C.
