Beer of the Weekend #1,126: Servus!

It’s Wednesday and I am drinking a beer: Servus!, brewed by the Contrary Brewing Company of Muscatine, Iowa.

Servus!

Serving type: 16-ounce can. No freshness date.

Appearance: Pours a beautiful medium gold into a pilsner glass. Off-white, bubbly, airy head fizzles away fairly quickly.

Smell: Grassy and malty. Simple stuff. Light hay, Cheerios, light earthy hops.

Taste: Light, simple, and tasty. Light malt, a touch of grass, Cheerios, and an earthy bite.

Fun facts about Servus!:

• Style: Bavarian-style lager.

• Price: $14 for a 4-pack of 16-ounce cans at the Contrary taproom in Muscatine. Is it just me or is to-go beer from a brewery taproom more expensive than from a store?

• Alcohol content: 5 percent ABV.

• A nerdy style note: I am using a comma after the exclamation point because the beer’s name is a proper noun. Somewhere in some style guide I read that exclamation points and question marks should not be followed by other punctuation.

The Quiet Man’s grade: C+.
