Beer of the Weekend #1,084: Chaos Pattern
The beer of the weekend is the last of my Badger State mini-haul: Chaos Pattern, brewed by 3 Sheeps Brewing of Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
Serving type: 12-ounce can. “CANNED ON 05/14/2024” is printed on the bottom.
Appearance: Poured into a nonic. The color is light/medium gold with a light haze. Two fingers of off-white, bubbly, buttery head leaves trails of foam along the glass as it settles.
Smell: Sharp citrus. It tickles the nostrils even before taking a sip. It is Tang-like. Grapefruit, orange, light malt and caramel, and lemon. It smells a little like a kitchen or bathroom cleaner.
Taste: It is light and mostly mirrors the aroma. Grapefruit, Tang, light malt, zest, and maybe some peach.
Fun facts about Chaos Pattern:
• Style: Hazy IPA.
• Price: $9.99 at Mentink’s Market/Piggly Wiggly in Oostburg, Wisconsin.
• Alcohol content: 6.5 percent ABV.
• Here is the description via the brewery website:
Chaos Pattern is a delicious hazy IPA brewed for every day drinking. It’s the kind of beer that ticks all of the boxes when you want to enjoy a hazy IPA or two, but don’t really want to crack open that hard-to-find, premium priced IPA that you spent 2 days tracking down. Chaos Pattern has tons of tropical fruit and citrus flavors, a soft, luxurious mouthfeel and none of that “should I save this beer to share it with my friends” guilt. It’s so good, you may have trouble keeping your fridge stocked.
• Sheboygan is a nice burg. I had never been there before our visit last month. It has a nice children’s museum, a functioning downtown, and nice parks.
The Quiet Man’s grade: C.
