Beer of the Weekend #1,079: Limaveza

The Foxy Lady stopped at Aldi this week and grabbed a sixer she thought looked pretty: Limaveza, brewed by ABW Virginia Beach of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Limaveza

Serving type: 12-ounce can. Numbers are printed on the bottom but there is no discernible freshness date.

Appearance: Poured into a pilsner glass. (I probably should have used a pint glass.) The color is light to medium gold. A finger of off-white head leaves a bubbly and buttery skim.

Smell: Lime. Lime, lime, lime. It smells like a margarita and evokes a Mexican restaurant. It is sharp and citrusy. There may also be corn adjunct. The aroma is reminiscent of sparkling water, and I also get a hint of grapefruit. Lemon is also present.

Taste: Not bad. It is not overwhelmingly limey. Lime dominates, though, and is refreshing. It is citrusy and the mouthfeel is reminiscent of sparkling water. It is subtle but tasty and drinkable.

Fun facts about Limaveza:

• Style: Lime lager.

• Price: $7.99 for six-pack of 12-ounce cans at the Aldi in Marion, Iowa.

• Alcohol content: 4.5 percent ABV.

• The description printed on the carrier is probably one of the best I have ever read:

Introducing Limaveza, your passport to pure relaxation. Dive into the refreshing waves of our crisp Lime Lager and let your taste buds drift away on a zesty breeze. Crafted for those endless beach days and carefree sunsets, Limaveza embodies the essence of leisure. Unwind, sip, and savor the tranquility. Limaveza: Where every moment feels like a getaway.

Epic!

The Quiet Man’s grade: C.
