Beer of the Weekend #1,014: DDH Dr. Dank

It is going to be a busy month. On top of a boatload of events, we’re packing and moving. There is never a dull moment around here, so I am going to be dipping into my spring 12-pack from The Local for some liquid stress relief.

My spring 12-pack included two beers I have already reviewed—Over the Ivy and South Side Citra Blonde, both from Confluence—so tonight’s beer is something new: DDH Dr. Dank, brewed by the ReUnion Brewery of Coralville, Iowa.

DDH Dr. Dank

Serving type: 16-ounce can. “SIP SIP PASS 3/26” is printed on the bottom shoulder.

Appearance: Poured into a nonic pint glass. (I can never remember if it is spelled nonic or nonick. BeerAdvocate uses nonic, so I will try to use that spelling from now on.) The color is hazy light orange. A finger and a half of dense, off-white head dissipates slowly and leaves trails of foam.

Smell: Dank! Citrus and dankness. There are scents of grapefruit, orange, mango, peach, and pineapple.

Taste: It is a citrusy and tropical melange. Hop bitterness tingles the taste buds. There are flavors of grapefruit, mango, peach, pineapple, and earthy hops. The flavor is not dank, though.

Fun facts about Dr. Dank:

• Style: Double-dry hopped IPA.

• Price: Unsure.

• ABV: 7.5 percent ABV.

• Here is the description via the brewery website and can: “It’s madness!!! He can’t be serious?!?! Sheer lunacy! He’ll destroy us all!!! Double dry hopped with Columbus, Citra and Mosaic, DDH Dr. Dank reeks of dank resiny goodness and heady, musky, tropical, juicy fruit. Oh, the humanity!!!”

The Quiet Man’s grade: B+
