The beer of the weekend is West Main Wheat, brewed by the Big Grove Brewery of Solon, Iowa.
Poured into a weizen glass. The color is very hazy wheat, which is fitting. About two fingers of shiny, eggshell-colored head leaves a spotted skim and a ring around the edge with short trails of lacing. The aroma is faint but musty. It smells like a grain bin. I have never smelled anything like it; it almost smells like sawdust. It’s just strange. There seems to be some esters. It has a smooth, full-bodied mouthfeel. The flavor is grainy and mostly mirrors the aroma. It has a pleasing bitterness. There are faint flavors of yeast and esters. It is a very odd beer. It’s not bad, but it’s just weird.
