The Gems of Sharpless: July 11, 2012
Judging by the crazy amount of stuff at Sharpless today, I do not think there was an auction last week. The place was packed to the gills.
On to the gems.
Is nothing sacred?
This was a very odd find, especially among Christmas related items: a Pet Shop Boys concert DVD.
Also odd was the placement of a Boards of Canada CD next to a picture of a guy in an office. (Boards of Canada do not interest me, but it has been a while since I listened to their stuff.)
Another Bible. This one has a custom cover with the previous owner’s name on it. In gold lettering. Ironic, no?
This was a gem: a sheet of ICPD officer cards from 1994 (that was the copyright date printed on the back, anyway). Each card depicts an officer in action, such as this one…
What can I say other than: priceless.
Here is a turntable that comes with a Kraftwerk album.
A box of matchbooks. Collecting custom matchbooks on trips was apparently a big thing back in the day. My parents had a box of matches like this, though smaller.
So the first two buildings featured almost no breweriana (the word for beer-related stuff). In the yard, though, I found this Falstaff box sitting in the corner. It was a sign of things to come because…
…the next building housed a ton of Falstaff and beer stuff. I think it came from a former Falstaff distributor or bar.
My dad likes looking through the old Playboy’s. This one was from 1968 and featured the college pigskin preview.
Sadly, it was not.
