Beer of the Weekend: On vacation

The Quiet Man is going on vacation, and so is BotW.

My parents flew in and tomorrow we start a weeklong adventure through the Golden State. We’ll hit up the Cal-UCLA game at the Rose Bowl, then leave the godforsaken Southland on Sunday morning and head north to Sequoia, Yosemite, and San Francisco. Our return trip south will follow Highway 1 through Santa Cruz (my first visit since leaving in January 2007) and San Simeon (to tour the Hearst Castle). It’ll be epic, and I’m sure I’ll drink a few choice beers along the way.

I plan to profile my beer related adventures this next week (which will include a visit to 99 Bottles and hopefully a tour of the Anchor Stream Brewery), but we’ll see if I follow through. I need a break from BotW; I need to simply drink and enjoy beer. My tastings have taken on a religious regularity and I need to take a vacation every once in a while. However, the compulsion to add more beers to my list — and make them official with a proper tasting — is overwhelming.

Regardless, it’s time to hit the road.
