Here's a good reader letter printed in today's Des Moines Register. It was profiled on the DMR website:

The concept of capitalism that made the United States great is slowly giving way to the notion that we need more, more, more. It’s called greed.

Higher wages, bigger houses, bigger 401ks, more profits, bigger bonuses, on and on. I sure don’t have all the answers; I don’t even understand most of the statistics that are being thrown out concerning this mess.

But I hope each one of us can find something to do that will stem the tide of this greed concept, or else there will be no end except a tragic one. Rome is burning.
