Helmet sticker for Shonn Greene!
In recognition of his career best game against Wisconsin today, Iowa running back Shonn Greene was awarded a helmet sticker on ESPN's College Football Final. With 217 yards rushing and four touchdowns, Greene deserved it. I think he's the first Iowa player to receive a coveted helmet sticker from the College Football crew.
On top of that, his spectacular 34 yard run in the second quarter was dubbed the best play of the day on SportCenter's "Top Plays." That's also likely a first for an Iowa football player.
Greene has been a beast this season. He returned to the team after taking a year off to focus on academics and has run over 100 yards each game this season, a first for FBS/Division I running backs. His touchdowns today came on runs of 12, 34, 52 and 34 yards. For the season he now has 1,154 yards rushing. The single season Iowa record is 1,691 yards, set by Tavian Banks in 1997.
Congrats, Shonn. Go Hawks!
