Beer of the Weekend #6 (Part 2)
There’s some left over business I need to take care of. Last night I didn’t give the beer of the weekend a grade.
From week to week I forget the format and style I use when sampling a different beer so I constantly go back to my blog to see how I’ve done things in previous posts. Do I spell out “percent” or use the symbol? What are the categories in the sampling template? Usually I get it right — though I need to pin down a consistent style for percentages and temperatures — but this time I forgot one little thing.
Mac’s Blackwatch Cream Porter was good but it wasn’t spectacular or distinctive. I’ve had similar stouts before and the aroma and taste reminded me of my favorite oatmeal stout, Stockyard Stout.
The Quiet Man’s grade: B.
(I really need to think about my grading scale, too. I’m too nice. But, then again, most of the beers I’ve graded have been pretty good.)
