FOOTBALL!

Can you feel it? That tingling inside you that’s been sequestered for almost eight months? The fluttering of your heart? Relief washing over your entire body? — do you feel it? If not, step outside and take a big breath of fresh air to revive your senses. You can smell it, perceive it in the angle of the sunlight. Now you know what I’m talking about?

IT’S FOOTBALL SEASON!

I didn’t get home in time to watch the first kickoff of the college football season, but I was only ten minutes late. I’d meant to go into work early so I could be there, in front of my roommate’s 58 inch plasma TV, to join the celebration.

Football season has arrived. Hallelujah!

I’ve been waiting for this since the last whistle of the BCS Championship in early January. Sure, the NFL playoffs and Super Bowl eased me into withdrawal, and League preseason held me over for a few weeks. But college football is what I’ve been praying for all spring and summer. And yesterday it finally arrived. When I got home (nobody else was there, thank God), I plopped on the couch and soaked in the LSU-Mississippi State game. Everyone knew it was gonna be a blowout, but it was football — oh, sacred game. The cowbells, the bands, the hoards of traveling LSU fans, and the tall floodlights illuminating the stadium. It almost brought me to tears.
